Vinpocetine
An alkaloid extracted from oleander plants and a derivative of vincamine. It selectively inhibits calcium dependent phosphodiesterase of cerebral vascular smooth muscle, increases blood flow, dilates cerebral vessels, and then increases cerebral blood flow, improves cerebral circulation, but has little effect on cardiac vessels and blood pressure. It has quick onset, good tolerance and small adverse reactions. It is used for dizziness, headache, memory disorders, movement disorders, aphasia, hypertensive encephalopathy, etc. it is also used for mental or neurological symptoms caused by cerebral blood circulation disorders.
